On May 4 and 5, Hotel De Wereld in Wageningen traditionally serves as the setting for the lighting of the Liberation Flame. Prior to the lighting, a television broadcast takes place, featuring musical and theatrical performances that powerfully bring the stories of the war to the stage.

After the flame is lit, it is carried across the Netherlands by relay runners.

On May 5, a traditional veterans’ parade is held.
